The wind park of Bouin
Guided tour with the LPO
The wind park of Bouin is located at 500 m of
the lagoon, place emblematic of ornithology in Vendean Breton marsh.
More than did 20 years of follow-ups and thus of data on this
zone make it possible the LPO to take part in the installation of the
new wind park of Bouin by carrying out an impact study on the birds
(which birds, which foreseeable impacts?) and while taking
part, with the commune and the engineering and design department
AlTech, with the installation of measurements of accompaniment of the
project (prohibition of hunting on the lagoon, obliteration of a part
of the existing powerlines, installation of work of ecological
restoration of the lagoon...). the LPO is invested, with the
assistance of the ADEME and the Area Country of the Loire, in the
follow-up of the impacts of the park on the birds. This
follow-up relates to the nesting, the behavior of the birds and
mortality. A summary of the results of the studies is available
at the LPO Breton Marais. In 2003 and 2004, the LPO realized,
in partnership with the city of Bouin, of animations around the
topic of the wind mills. During this visit "Wind mills and Nature", various approaches will be evoked:(For schools and groups only)

- technical approach of the wind park
- environmental approach (explanations on the wind
follow-ups and fauna)

Passage du Gois
An exceptional site
The current layout dates from the 18th century,
but its origin goes up to 600 after JC and the first crossing with
845. In 1700, the military charts show the way which the
islanders borrow to join the continent. In 1872, one builds a
first road. In 1788, the first refuges appear. In 1855,
the passage is equipped with 9 beacons quite useful for thoughtless
caught up with by the rising tide. They made the reputation and
the originality of the landscape. In 1920, there were 2
roadmenders on each side of the passage; that located on the
continent had a hut in current place of the restaurant "le relai du
Gois". In 1935, the first paving stones were posed under
particular conditions because work could be carried out only over one
duration maximum 2 hours. The workmen thus worked twice per
days. In 1971 for economic reasons, Noirmoutier lost its
statute of island at the time of the construction of the bridge.
In 1998, the Post office immortalisa this site known of the
whole world and asked Louis Briat to design a stamp.
Saint Urbain: Leisures zone.
Discovering the marsh
Initiate stake the Community elected officials,
the project allowed to set up a multi-activities zone of leisures and
to develop the "country holidays" on the canton.
Financed by the State with the title of the equipment to the
rural development, by the general council of the Vendée and the
community of communes of the Northern Breton Marsh the zone of
leisures, realized on a ground placed at the disposal by the city, extends on more than 1,5 hectares where are
established the ground of foot and adventure playgrounds.
In addition to these installations, other infrastructures were
installation such as tables of picnic and a way with edges out of
wooden to play the balls. A part of this zone, have been
preserved in its natural state, will make it possible to leave to
discovered the marshes since an access by the large meadow will take
you along to the étiers where departures will be organized stroll
some in canöes and kayaks.
